# Requesting Salesforce access

Request just-in-time access to one or more Salesforce permission sets through Slack or the P0 web app. When your request is approved, P0 assigns the requested permission sets to your Salesforce user and removes them when your access expires.

{% hint style="info" %}
You must already exist as an active Salesforce user whose email matches your P0 identity. P0 assigns permission sets to your existing Salesforce user.
{% endhint %}

### Requesting from Slack

1. Type `/p0 request` in any Slack channel to open the P0 request modal, then select **Salesforce** as the resource.
2. If your organization connects more than one Salesforce org, select the **Salesforce domain** you want access to.
3. Under **Permission set**, start typing the name of a permission set. As you type, suggestions appear in a dropdown. Select one or more permission sets you need.
4. Optionally, enter a reason under **Reason access is needed**, and a duration under **Requested access duration**.
5. Click **Request**.

After you submit the request, the P0 bot confirms the request and notifies your approvers. If your request is approved, P0 assigns the selected permission sets to your Salesforce user and tells you when access expires. When access expires, or if you relinquish it early, P0 removes the permission sets.

After your request is approved, you can use the **relinquish** button on the P0 bot message to release access early. Relinquishing revokes the permission sets, and you must make another request if you need them again.
